I don't know if I'm Primary or Pom, but the suggestion that we could have easily slipped out for a snack if we were hungry is ludicrous. Where are we going to get a snack in Stanley Park at 11 o'clock at night?? Are you suggesting we should have jumped into the water and breast-stroked across Coal Harbour to grab a burger?

What do you mean, did we pay for our meal at the door? It was a wedding reception. And no, the bride and groom were not short of funds. They were both professional people who offered some of your most expensive selections for their guests. (We checked our selection on the invitation R.S.V.P.)
All they wanted was some decent value for their catering dollar, which was not met.

In light of some of these replies - I suspect they were penned by one or more of the principals of The Butler Did It. Your arrogance speaks volumes.

Need I say more?

I have used this company on many occasion and have always enjoyed their food, attitude and service. I would like to add to post 1 and the fellow guest that it is up to the person who hires the service, in this case the bride, to order the correct amount of food. They actually do offer a snack table for guests in the evening but it is not free. Is this the problem? Were you expecting free goods and service? The bride simply under estimated the amount that needed to be served or perhaps her budget did not allow for it. In any case, it is certainly not the responsiblity of the hired help to assume peoples hunger or run and get more food than was paid for. If it was such a great (hunger) pain why not simply go and get a snack? Did you pay for your meal at the door? Did you pay for extra?

It's to bad that Primary and Pom had a bad experience with this company. They catered a party for my family and it was great. Primary's and Pom's bride perhaps did overlook the fact that her groom's friends were big men. The event co-ordinator may have tried to bring this to her attention but if there is a low budget and the bride sets the menu, there is only so much the co-ordinator can do.

I was a guest at the same rowing-club reception - and my meal also arrived cold. I ordered the chicken - can tolerate it cold, but my wife sent her cold steak back.

Agree with first poster - about the scant quantity of food. Many of the groom's friends were big, hurly-burly rugby players - I'm sorry, but the whole event ended up with a Buffet in Biafra overtone. I think this was one factor that was perhaps overlooked by a very petite bride in her planning - but should it not be the responosibility of a GOOD catering company to make the effort to know something about the flavour (no pun intended) of the expected guests? The best catered reception I was privy to offered a snack table - some sandwiches, veggies, chips and dips etc. were put out at about 10 p.m. Let's face it. People get partying and dancing - and they get thirsty and hungry. Maybe this is something your company could offer???? GREAT IDEA!

Unfortunately, in closing, all I can say is this The Butler sure murdered this event.

My daughter was married in May 2007 . The Butler Did It catered for the event . It was excellent . Our guests were very pleased with the buffet and the canapes also . The bar was well attended by 2 bartenders. The serving staff was efficient and friendly . There was plenty of very tasty food for all the guests. The wedding took place at the Heritage Hall on Main and 15th Ave. in Vancouver . They did a great job helping us set up the hall and the clean up afterwards. We have nothing but great words to say about this catering company and would hire them again anytime.

Well, I am very sorry that you had that experience. I was married this year and my sister last year both events catered by The Butler. We have nothing but praise for this company and their food. I have guests still commenting on the food and impeccable service. We had plenty of food and they boxed us up a great take home package for my husband and I. They did such a great job that we are having them cater our office Chirstmas Party this year.

I've had the Butler cater a wedding, a house warming and a birthday. After the first event the rest was simple. The Butler can do it anytime.

Was a guest at a sit-down wedding reception dinner held at VCR Rowing Club last summer, and I would NEVER recommend this company for the following reasons

All the entrees arrived at the tables COLD.

My companion ordered the vegetarian dish which was a green pepper that was supposed to be stuffed with rice, feta cheese, olives and artichokes. It was stuffed mostly with rice, a few flakes of artichoke, with NO OLIVES OR FETA. How chintzy is that?

The servings were very small many of the guests left hungry.

If The Butler Did It, I'd fire him and hire a decent CHEF and a better co-ordinator.

VERY POOR PERFORMANCE. The cold chicken, vegetarian and filet of beef entrees was the worse affront. Many guests sent theirs back.
